Drake Workbook

Our The Historic Voyage of Sir Francis Drake: A Student-Teacher Guide offers a history of Drake's encounter within the larger context of global politics and exploration. A section on "More Evidence of 1579 Landing" covers the archaelogical work that placed the cove at Point Reyes as the site of the encounter with the Miwok. Included are a Timeline, Bibliography, and Vocabulary.

Classroom activities include a section on the Spice Islands so key to the exploratory voyages. Directions on making a pomander and Spice Island punch are included. In addition are instructions for making a compass and an astrolabe, along with an explanation of their key roles in navigation.</>

We received permission to duplicate a variety of historic maps and illustrations of the period. These can be read critically for their idealization of the people and the events.
