As with other MLMT shows, this was written by Corinne Swall and composed and arranged by Monroe Kanouse. Since its premier performance at the historic Sonoma Mission in 1989, "Las Posadas" has been produced in many venues. These include the Pickleweed Community Center in San Rafael, the now Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa, the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco, the Dance Palace in Point Reyes Station, and churches in California.In 1992, the National Opera Association included a production of the work at its Opera for Youth Convention in San Francisco.
A favorite performance was for the San Rafael Canal Ministry. Revered Jan Hickman West responded, "The whole experience brought tears to my eyes....The real test was how it was received by the Latino community. Well I didn't even have to ask. 'Please ask them to come back next year. It was terrific, wonderful, the actors and the music combined both cultures.' You couldn't receive any more rave notices than that!"
